The Embassy of the State of Qatar in the Republic of Djibouti held a reception on the occasion of the country's National Day.

The ceremony was attended by H.E the Speaker of the Djibouti National Assembly (Parliament) Deleita Mohamed Deleita, H.E the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation and Government Spokesperson Mahmoud Ali Youssouf, In addition to heads and members of diplomatic missions, representatives of regional and international organizations in Djibouti, representatives of local media, and other invitees.

In a speech at the ceremony, H.E Dr. Rashid bin Shafeea Al-Marri, Ambassador of the State of Qatar to the Republic of Djibouti, pointed out that the National Day is a symbol of pride and belonging, and reflects the pride of the Qatari people in the great achievements made under the leadership of His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, Emir of the country.

He added that the celebration of the National Day is a commemoration of the founding of the State of Qatar by the late Sheikh Jassim bin Mohamed bin Thani, on December 18, 1878, which is the day on which the building and progress of the state began.

The Ambassador stated that the State of Qatar has achieved many accomplishments throughout the year in various fields, on the political, humanitarian and economic levels, as the State of Qatar has played an important role in many humanitarian and political mediations at the regional and international levels, including mediation efforts between Hamas and Israel, the release of hostages, contributing to stopping conflicts in Lebanon and Sudan, and reuniting Ukrainian children with their families in light of the Russian-Ukrainian war.

He added that the State of Qatar has also flourished economically, showing clear progress in the Global Competitiveness Report 2024, reflecting the strength of its economy and sustainable development.

For his part, H.E the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Government Spokesperson in Djibouti, delivered a speech at the ceremony in which he praised the bilateral relations between the two countries, stressing that "the Republic of Djibouti, its leadership and people, are proud of the strong ties of brotherhood and close relations of cooperation that unite it with the sisterly State of Qatar.

The Djiboutian Foreign Minister also appreciated the momentum witnessed in relations between the two countries, stressing his "firm keenness to continue joint work in order to strengthen it and raise it to the highest ranks and levels, for the good of the two brotherly peoples and their common interest".

The reception, held by the Embassy of the state of Qatar in the republic of Djibouti on the country's National Day, received distinguished media coverage by local media.
